This Northern Harrier  performs its characteristic "hover and pounce" hunting technique as it pursues  a Moorhen in a southeast Texas wetlands.  This unique style earned this awesome bird of prey a place in history as the namesake for the McDonald Douglas AV-8 series Harrier jump jet, the vertical take-off and landing- capable aircraft in use by the US Marine Corp and employed extensively by the British in the Falklands War.
